Car ran fine this morning, replaced water pump, hoses, cap, rotor, plugs and wires, timing belt, positive battery cable, valve cover gasket, cleaned throttle body put it all back together and car won't stay running. It will start fine, run for 2 seconds then dies like you shut off the key. It idles up to around 1,000 rpm. We checked the fuel pressure and it is steady until the car dies. We changed the ignition module on the steering column too. We checked for leaks and disconnected wires and didn't see any. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My vote is for a vacuum leak.

Either that, or you got the Timing belt one tooth off.

Have you pulled the KOEO and CM codes? All sensors hooked up- IAC, TPS? How did you clean the throttle body? Any chance cleaning fluid got in the TPS? If that could be an issue, check the TPS setting and movement:

I made the mistake of using spray cleaner on a TB without removing the TPS first. Cleaner travled down the shaft and into the TPS was all I could guess. I had to put in a new TPS

Well we fiddled with some wires and hoses again this morning and found nothing. Tried to start it a few times and it would just die. Finally, I started the car with my foot halfway into the throttle. It fired and reved up to about 3 grand, held it there for a second then eased out and Walla! It didn't die. The only guess we could come up with was that when we first tried to start the car, after putting everything back together, it backfired and pushed the Vane Meter closed. By giving it some gas on start up it must have blown the Vane Meter back open. Just a guess but it now runs.

Hope you didn't leave a rag or something in there! I did once but it wasn't my TC.
