87-88 Rear Varga Caliper question

I've installed re-man rear calipers and one of them isn't adjusting out, there's still considerable space between the pad and disc. The other side has adjusted out and is much closer to the disc. Parking brake cables are new and installed properly (I believe). The parking brake lever on the caliper is moving when the parking brake is applied.

Is there anything that can be checked externally without having to disassemble the caliper?

i know on some calipers with parking brake mechanism in them you have to pump the hydraulic pedal first or the wont ratchet out properly. but i assume you did.. my "reman" calipers started freezing up a year after i got them.. nothing like having you parking brake stay on for 2 miles because its below 32*f and you park brake is stuck on.
