Hello fellow turbo guys
I found 86 Turbo Cougar XR-7 auto, 87k miles
silver, with leather, loaded, new tires, brakes, radiator, tune-up, one family owned, excellant shape. Rust free, perfect interior, only problems, A/C needs recharge, or cruise.
They want $1800 or obo
What do you guys think?
I'm going to mod the shit out of it w/ the C3
I think it will be a good challenge.

Sounds like a good price for a solid car. Nice that it's one-owner too. Maybe offer $1500, but it's probably worth it.

If it's as nice as you describe, I would say it's worth it.

I bought an 86 XR7 with 93,000 miles, auto, leather, premium sound, etc. in October 2002 for $600. I did a tuneup, brakes including drums and rotors, new paint, and converted the AC to R134. Still need to change the heater core. I have about $2,000 in it today.
If the car is solid and all works, that is not an unreasonable price. There is not much demand for these cars. Don't be afraid to bid the price down. Most people see them as old T-Birds or old Cougars. There were only about 6,400 of the 86 XR7's made. Given the crush rate, there are probably less than half that left today. Buy it and take care of it.
BTW, the automatic is a real dog until boost comes on. It is very fun after that though [Image: smile.gif]
