I think you need the short upper intake to avoid hood clearance problems along with the valve cover with the depression in it.

No [Image: biggrin.gif] You will have to rig up a way to connect the compressor housing to the IC though. I clocked mine and had a piece made and some custom silicone hose (If you need any hose, I have all the hose to connect two different size tubes). Once you do that, install the hood and let fly.

Yes, you will have clearance problems. Shorter upper intakes and valve covers are on Ebay every day.

The hood closed on my old 84 just fine with the inline intake and a 87-88 IC. NO clearance problems at all, stock 87 hood WITH ducting and new IC seal from 1-800-Mustang.

I assumed since there are notable differences it was because of clearance problems or Ford wouldn't have made the changes. I never actually tried it.

I had no problem with clearance in my 85, except I had to take off the rubber gasket and let the plastic intake rest on top of the IC. Also I did clock the compressor housing, and I got a custom outlet piece from some Merkur XR4ti site to bolt to the compressor housing, and used a stock 87-88 hose.

update, ive installed a factory ic with teh inline intake, the hood currently presses down on the throttle body side of the ic and pushes it off the hose. Also it seems to me resting at a very high angle with the turbo side real low. This weekend im going to take aerobirds advice and remove the seal from the duct and see what happens. In order to level the ic, i might have to consider a longer ic to turbo coupler tube, anyone ever did that?
