can you use a standard (blue) butt connector
to connect the 2 hoses together?

According to a manual I have the 84 should have a BCS. It located behind and below the back of the stock air cleaner box on the passenger fender. It's round, about 2+ inches in diameter and an 1.5" long. It will have 2 vacuum hoses and an electrical connector going to it.

I would not advise more than about 14 psi boost without an intercooler due to the risk of detonation.
