83 head...87-88 head differences

Keith, are you talking about a hole directly under the exhaust port? My 83 head has those and I was told its for smog or something. Exhaust exits from the holes so I had to plug them up.

Interesting. We got so few 83s and discussions about them.

The hole Keith is talking about is the very first hole for the lower intake. To use early lowers on later heads or vice versa?, a new hole has to be frilled and tapped. No biggie, it's been done often

I thought somebody told me the later turbo heads had the heart shaped chambers. nevermind then.

Oh, and my '84 head had the smog holes in the exhaust ports...I plugged them on mine also.
