Could someone out there give me a list of the parts required to convert my 88 turbo coup to a 5 speed transmission. Except for paint car is nearly perfect. Was never planing to keep it but I have fallen in love with it. My last t-bird was a white 1960 I owned it when I was 17 years old and I lived in Dearborn. Sold it for 175.00 but then 7 year old T-Birds were not worth much in 1967 Detroit, It need a transmission also, come to think of it. Anyway 36 years later got a new T-Bird to love. This one is not for sale I can afford to repair it at this stage of life.

Heres what I found from an old article regarding a t5 swap -
you can swap to 5 speed, the parts aren't TOO difficult to find, and everything bolts right in without modification because all the holes are already in the chassis. here's what you'll need from a donor turbocoupe:
* tranny
* crossmember (or, you can drill a hole in your current one)
* flywheel
* driveshaft
* the mini wiring harness that plugs into the tranny and disconnects from the main harness
* shifter assembly
* pedal assembly including all hydraulic clutch components
* clutch
* LA2 or LA3 Computer
Good luck !!!

Ive heard you dont need the computer if the BCS is bypassed. The only difference is that the auto computer limits boost to 10 psi via the BCS.

The computer's not necessary.
The wiring harness isn't essential. You just have to bypass the neutral/safety start feature which means the car will start in gear. Really doesn't matter - I always have the clutch in at start anyway.

Pedals are a pain - but after you feel the results you'll forget all about your bloody knuckles. [Image: wink.gif]
