Thanks a ton for the info. While I'm still on the 5.0 side of the fence right now, it's great to hear that there are alternatives. Like I said, I've had 3 boosted Buick's and love any and all high tech motors. It's even better when you love the look of the car that the motor sits in. :-). My bird just hit 94,000 so there is a *ton* of life left in her. I absolutley would miss the hiss of the turbo when the time comes, but hell, it may never come. These 2.3's are bullet proof...

I am even tossing around putting in a t72 turbocharged 351. [Image: cool.gif]
I think a good junkyard t3 with a decent front mount intercooler(I love the GN), 255hp fuel pump, adj fuel reg., decent 3" exhaust and a good state of tune should yield high 13 low 14 sec. timeslips. A used 86-87 GN turbo would be even better. Some home porting of the intakes and e6 and traction should make mid 13's a reality. And you can still get 25+mpg to and from the track. Not to mention all the mustang 5.0 guys that you will piss off after popping the hood.

i don't have track times yet, only tazzo(g-tech like meter)times but they are 12.90's or better with almost 2.2 short times. with tuning and traction i'm positive it will run a 12.50 or better. it ran a 5.4 sec 0-60 w/a 2.48 60 ft!
Sweet!!

The gas milage is a no brainer. Hell my GN's only got me 17 during spirited driving. The one thing I truly miss about those black beasts, is the tourqe. Those little f*ckers spin so quick and make all their tourqe down low. I would love to put something together for the bird to do the same thing...

I say mod the motor run the a237 run the cam just keep it a four. The 2.3 can put out a but load of power. Funny smart ass did you put a k&N on your turbo coupe.... dur dur whatever...Would you still call a mustang 5.0 just because it was a 5.0 orginal but you put a 2.3 in it. No you wouldn't so don't be calling it a turbo coupe. There is no turbo on it

This thread was heading in a very nice direction, so please don't ruin it. You're certainly entitled to your own opinion, but if you can't state it without mindless name calling, it just shoudln't be shared at all. Thank you.

I usually don't contribute to these flamed debates about a bigger engine in our birds. But since I've had to look at this thread for a few days, I think I'll add something.
I really like having the 4 cylinder that has so much potential. I love beating one of those mustang monsters at a stop light encounter and getting out at the nearest parking lot and showing him my little 4 cylinder beast. He's still a ford guy and so am I, we just took different paths along the same road. If you want a bigger engine, go for it. It's your car and not mine, and someday you might be that guy that gets his ass handed to him by a 4 banger...but then again...you might rule the streets or the local dragway of your own little part of the world because of your badass 460 in the slick body of a Turbo Coupe.. and in that case...cool car man.

well said. if i had started out with a turbo 4 i would have built it up. i like not being a belly button car. no matter what, somebody will beat you,be it a 4 pot or whatever someone will ALWAYS be faster.

I am curious about one thing. What do people think about putting a V8 in to a Turbo Coupe and adding a turbocharger to it? Are we still allowed to call them Turbo Coupes? I think so. Thoughts?
