Was just curious as to why swapping a 4.6 into a turbocoupe is so unpopular? It's a bit of a better engine stock for stock, is it because the engine management is different, different wiring harness and computer etc?

plus, a 5.0 will make a lot more power than a 4.6 2v.

I thought about taking my 4.6 out of my cobra when I totalled it and putting it in my 85 TC. I took the money from the insurance instead though. It probably would've been one of the nastiest TC's around though haha

I'm still contemplating the 96-98 Mustang Cobra DOHC 4.6 swap into mine. Don't tempt me! Smile

Na if your gunna put a v8 into a TC hold off for a little while longer till a few punk kids wreck some 2011 stangs then get a new 5.0 and stuff it under the hood of a TC. In its N/A form it puts out more power then a supercharged 4.6l.

You would be better off with a used 03/04 Cobra engine. Easier to find and can handle just about anything you can toss at it.

Definitely a worthy swap, the 4.6 sounds so bad ***. I always find the 5.0 a little more metallic sounding and has a bit less of a lull. Both unreal engines though.

5.0 plug-n-play (sort of) FTW

After working at ATK, I grew tired of anything small block. Everytime I see a 302 in a car it just makes me think of how sad it is that they are using it. At one time, I was going to put a nasty 351C 4V with the closed chamber heads in the car. But the 2.3T just came back calling. 2v 4.6's are on the same level as the 302. 4v 4.6, 351C, or FE or not at all. Yeah, grew tired of the 385 series too. But that's my opinion.
