GOOD MORNING! As a followup to my request to the AVA Inn and the Sleep Inn in Carlisle to provide a block of rooms for the 2020 Carlisle All Ford Nationals in June of 2020, I have not heard back from either establishment (much to my dismay). Also, my written requests were followed by phone calls and written letters but all of that still did not produce a response from either establishment.
About three or four years (or five) years ago I spent a lot of time composing letters and making phone calls to reach out to motels and hotels in and close by to Carlisle or the Carlisle Fairgrounds attempting to find a place to stay that would be suitable and within reason for the members of NATO attending Carlisle that year. Unfortunately, the attendees that stayed at the motel selected wound up in the boonies and that locations was written off for the following years. We had a dependable place to stay for many years at the Days Inn South but then that location changed hands and the place went downhill quickly. That also included the fact that all the nice employees left, they cut the place in half, and the place went totally to crap making it undesirable.
After giving the situation a lot of thought, I declared to my self that I wasn't going to go on a motel or hotel hunt again, and, throw in the fact that Sandy and I haven't been to Carlisle in 4 years, I have decided to let the 2020 attendees find their own accommodations for 2020. My only suggestion would be that you start early because they fill up fast.
Sincerely
Gary Schweikert
