So somewhat of a long shot.

A guy down south put a 302 into a Sport trac.  Removed the 4.0, found a donor Mountaineer with the 5.0 liter and swapped them out.  I'm planning on doing the same but am wondering if I swap the 302 with a 351 windsor from a 98 F-250 would that work.

I've checked the newer 302 and that 351 engine and both have the same firing order but my concern is the fueling.  Will the electronics work and compensate for the different but yet same style motor or what should I worry about?

351 is a little wider than a 302..... sure it will fit?

I would go with an aftermarket PCM like the Pimpx from Stinger. That way you can tune it.

Thanks for the reply.

So use the original computer from the 88 F-250.
How would someone find the pin outs for the connections for each vehicle/motor combination?

You would need the EVTMs or wiring diagrams for both vehicles. Check Ebay. I picked up the full Ford manuals and EVTMs for both my 05 Taurus SEL Premium 24V DOHC and my 95 Taurus Vulcan beater on Ebay for under $100 a few years ago.

So I found a 99 Explorer with the 5.0 From everything I've read a pretty straight forward swap, keep the computer from the donor vehicle. Will need a rebuild on the 302 as it has 275k on it.
Who has the best rebuild kits for the 5.0? I am planning on having the engine machined as well as the crank
