this summer i was thinking of building a 2.5

Do they sell a complete block with pistons and all, or do i have to build one?

What are the pros and cons of these motors?

What are your performance goals? I can't see doing a stroker unless you are looking at making over 500rwhp. With that being said I will be doing one next year. My goals are for over 500rwhp. I wouldn't even worry about replacing the stock bottom end till you make over 375rwhp. Just my $.02.

------------------
mods: SDS Digital Fuel Injection, ported & polished big valve head(1.89/1.59), .500 lift roller cam, custom upper and ported lower intakes, 60-1 stage III .63 turbo, powerstroke intercooler, 60mm throttle body, 75pph injectors, Walboro 255HP pump, Kirban adj. fuel reg., ATR header, 3" exhaust with Dynomax Ultraflow muffler, MSD 6al, MSD coil, MSD Launch Control, MSD 8.5mm wires, K&N filter, Star stage III clutch, Greddy Profec B boost controller, Weld Draglites with M/T ET Street 26x11.5/15

I see the point of a 2.5 stroker to be more low end (and some mid) torque over a straight 2.3

am considering for the ranger when I do the swap

------------------
'87 TurboCoupe - 154k miles, b.c. bypassed, tri-ax, needs some t.l.c.
'68 Z28 - custom and sharp
'94 Z28 - mid-12s on stock heads/cam, low-11s on bottle, 396" LT4 ready
'00 Z28 - 377 rwhp on stock heads
'96 Ranger - soon 2B turbo, ridin' on 17" cobras
'89 TTA - 1 of 1555, not stock, not even close
'68 Firebird - twin turbo 383 LT1 project

My goals are for over 500, i'll have the money this summer to do what i want to the car. if the stock bottom end is for 375 at the wheels, shouldn't i upgrade?

If over 500rwhp is your goal then definitely build the bottom end. A 2.5 stroker is still not necessary. I got a great deal on a crank so I decided to go that route. Still considering selling it and doing a long rod(5.5") 2.3 though.

What mods are you planning to get you there?

Header, Esslinger head, big valves, ported intakes, msd 6, msd 2 step, larger throttle body, rotate the upper intake to have a powerstoke ic i have laying around on,eec tuner, and i dont know what size injectors to get yet, and havent decided on a cam yet either, plus all the stuff i have now.

Those turbo won't get you there. You will be looking at a 60-1 minimum. Everything else but the eec tuner looks great though. For that power level you will need the SDS or other true stand alone.

It's a t3/t4 with a 60-1 compressor wheel. Will support around 580hp. You can also look at the T61 and TSO4 from turbonetics. The SC61, SC60(60-1), and SC44 from Precision Turbo.
