You don't want to use the bottom end of a NA 2.3 for a turbo application. The pistons are different and would melt/crack/break/...you choose. Are you sure that a rod is knocking in the bottom end? These engines are usually pretty tough, and 100,000 miles should be just breaking it in good. If the bottom end is toast, I wouldn't offer more than $100 with the head on it.

There's also a matter of the turbo oil return boss cast into the turbo block. I friend of mine and I were beating the idea around of using low compression pistons in an NA block and drilling for the return line, but neither of us tried it. There should still be plenty of good turbo blocks around the junkyards though. I just found an auto 84 TC here in town and I think the junkyard wanted $75 for the complete engine. But I didn't buy it because I already have two spare engines and figure that should cover me for the life of the car.

I remember reading a few years back that if you need a wiring harness for a Stang or Pinto turbo conversion, the easiest one to get is out of a Merkur because the EEC-IV wiring is independent of the rest electrical system. But that was only be good up to '86 if I remember correctly.

The wiring harness/ EEC, etc are completely different between the 2.3T and 2.3 NA motors. Sensors are in different locations, and the 2.3T is an mass air fuel control system, and the Mustang 2.3 NA is a speed density system. The 87-88 TC harness has all kinds of extra stuff in it for the ABS and PRC systems. Might try to find a harness from a 83-88 TC (simpler, since no PRC, ABS) add a wire or 2 (like ACT input) and repin the 60 pin EEC connector to match with the 87-88 EEC. Either way, an EVTM from the donor TC and Stang would be a big help.

Jeff meant to say that you might want to find a wiring harness from an 83-86, not 83-88.
