I have an 87 Turbo Bird engine. The block is trash. Is the block the same as a standard 2.3? Any input appreciated.

The blocks are the same. Of course, you will have to drill and tap the turbo oil return hole in the block or put an oil return in the upper part of the oil pan when using a non turbo block. Somewhere, around 84 or so, the rear main seal changed, as well as the oil pan.
