I have an 87 sport 5.0, and it still has the digital dash. i was hoping someone could tell me how or if you can swap it out for a regular standard gauge cluster dash. I found one on the interenet out of an 86. Will that work? if so what is required to change it out?

Keep the digi gauges,do the 199mph upgrade (solder one little wire),and enjoy it.

Get a "new" one or 2 from the JY.

I always thought that the Sport models for 87-88 all came with an analog cluster that looks very similar to the TC cluster.

I think I would worry about that IF it ever happened. We had a '88 5.0 with the digi dash that ended up with over 200,000 miles on it. The only problem we had with the dash was one of the bulbs went out, but that can happen with any dash.

If you are that concerned about it "breaking" just find a spare and keep it in the garage untill it is needed.

My Sport has the analog gauges. The tach won't work with a Turbo Coupe, but the rest will if the TC tach/boost gauge is swapped in.The Sport clusters are way harder to find than the TC clusters. Not many Sports running around any more.

So basically its a lot bigger of a headache than i expected? And i know it would be very hard to find a cluster out of another sport. I honestly dont know if its even possible lol. But thanks i guess. i will just cross my fingers nothing goes on it. if it does im not going to be a happy camper! I do know the trip meter stopped working, but from all i know the cluster seems ok.

If its possible you are going to want the 88 tbird sport, cougar xr7 gauges. They are analog like the turbocoupe from 85-88 and the tach will be right for you V8..... no idea how to wire that one..
