1986 tc teardown

It's been a while since my last post and a lot has happened. My son , who was partners with me on a "near mint" 87 tc, decided he could not afford the high insurance and other costs since he starts college at the end of the month. He opted to withdraw from the partnership,( which kind of screws up my user name). About a week later I purchase, or should I say repurchase, my 2 old tc's, one '86 and one 87. My son starts looking at the '87 and, I could see it coming, decides he'd like to slowly restore this one while he's in college to have it ready for when he is done. My user name is valid again. The '86 is in my opinion beyond repair, so it's teardown time. My question of the day is, is the fuel pump in the '86 tc the same as the one in the '87
1987 Turbo Coupe,Black with red cloth, 5spd, 70,000 miles. In the process of being dissasembled, detailed and reassembled using the best of the parts that I have from 6 past T-birds. 17" TSW Chrome rims with Wanli rubber, Sony disc player with Type "R" Alpine subs, K&N cone, Centerforce Clutch, MSD Ignition, Sequential tailights, B&M Short Shifter. Much more work to be done but lovin' every minute of it. Updates to come...

Should be.

My son just told me he is going to be selling his. He needs better mileage due to a long work commute.

Pumps should be the same, but if you are planning on doing any mods, upping boost, etc, it is best to upgrade the stock pump. The stock pump could barely supply enough fuel for the stock motor when new, and they get worse with age.

I may consider mods a little later but I'm just trying to strip parts on the '86 that will fit on the '87,so I'm gonna have plenty of trivia questions.I plan on getting pretty familiar with the search functions but I'm also learning to use the computer so "little by little" as they say
