1986 dies suddenly

I'm getting ready to sell my 1986 TC but have developed a problem I'd like to get fixed before I sell it. The car is a 5 speed, high mileage (350,000) but runs well except for stumbling on boost once t is warm. Over the last few days I would start it. Starts quickly as always. Then it would idle for a few minutes and then die suddenly like the switch were turned off. I'd start it again and it'd do the same thing. This morning it died and now I can't get it to start back. There is fuel at the Schrader valve.

Does this sound more like ignition or fuel? Haven't started diagnosing yet hoping to get some helpful hints.

Thanks,
David

Check the fuel pressure with a gauge. The fact that some squirts out when the valve is depressed does not mean there is enough pressure for it to start or run.

Have you pulled the codes: http://turbotbird.com/techinfo/Retrievin..._codes.htm , http://turbotbird.com/techinfo/eec.htm See if the codes tell you anything. If you cannot get it started you may only be able to get the KOEO codes. These are codes of recent things gone wrong . Let us know what codes you get.

Thanks fellow. I'll take a look at the codes, probably be monday before I can get to them. I thought tfi or clogged fuel filter. The pressure regulator is fairly new but i know they can fail. I'll dig and see and report back. Thanks,
david
