Just want to confirm something here. I've heard talk of 17x9 wheels not fitting on the front of our cars. Anyone with experience here know for sure if 17x9's will fit on the front of an 88 TC without major problems? Will I need spacers? What is the min/max size tire that I could run? Was thinking I'll be stuck in 245/40 territory but I may be way off.

I have 17x9's with 245/45's. No clearance issues at all in the rear. In the front the only clearance problem was right in the middle of the wheel opening where there's a little tab that sticks out with a screw in through it. I just took the screw out and slightly bent the fender with a pair of pliers and no more issues anywhere.
It depends on backspacing and offset though. What are the specs of the wheels are you looking at?

The only other issue you may encounter is the wire for the ABS sensor on both front wheels. Be sure to bend the wire support bracket away from the inner edge of the rim.

These are +24mm offset / 6.42 backspace 17x9 Cobra R's. I converted to vac-assist brakes on this car, and removed that ABS sensor wire bracket during, so that won't be an issue. So the inner top edge of the fender is the only remaining issue? Can it be bent out of the way without distorting the outside of the panel?

Sure can! It took me all of two minutes to fix the clearance issue and I didn't even take the wheels off. If your car is not lowered you may not even have an issue if the wheel specs are right. I'll have to dig up the specs on mine.

Ok, good to know that there isn't much involved with getting them to fit. Whoever said 17x9's wouldn't fit in the front probably wasn't trying hard enough, or had the wrong rim for the car. Thanks for the reply's.
