I just did it last night and I have only ran about a mile. Everything is working better and brighter. Car seems to run a bit better too. I used the kit from PA Performance. Easy install. (get the short power wire). Very impressed.

I done some searching and from what I've found you most likely have a defective alternator and/or a defective voltage regulator.

What did it cost you to do the upgrade? I wouldn't mind doing it to mine.

It was just under $300 shipped. That included the extra power wire which was the wrong one(long instead of short). Very easy mod. The hardest thing is grinding the bracket.

They told me to get the long power wire but that was incorrect I should have gotten the short one which is listed there.

I got mine from PA as well, but I had it powdercoated so it was a bit north of $300. I've never had a problem with mine to this point. Sucks you got one with a faulty regulator. They do have pretty good service, though.

I'm not faulting them at all. Called them and they had me take some readings while on the phone and sent me a return label right there.
I wanted the powder coat but didn't want to wait. HAHA pointless now!
Now I just need a new battery and new headlights since they blew from the high volts.

We had an alternator kick out too much voltage on our race car and it ended up ruining the TFI on the distributor. Something you might want to keep in mind if your car suddenly stops running.
