Howdy folks. Semi newb TC owner here. 1 month. Just got mine tuned up and running smooth. I have a stock 88TC 5 speed. I am about to add a cold air K&N setup (per the tech section) a gillis valve, and a 3" exhaust system. Thats prolly all I'll do until I need a rebuild. My question is this. I'm stuck here in sweet home alabamy and all we have even semi close are 8th mile tracks. I searched the board but never found any 8th mile ETs. I even posted on another site for ideas and got all kinds of math formulas but no "real" times. Any help would be most appreciated.

1/4 mile et is approximately 1.55 times the 1/8 mile et. 1/4 mile speed is approximately 1.24 times the 1/8 mile speed. According to turbofords equation page

------------------
87 turbocoupe, 5-speed, Completely loaded, superchip, bleeder valve set to 17 psi, Kn cone
87 turbocoupe, 5-speed, Completely loaded, some mods

When my car (w/ the old engine) went 15.144 @ 91.46 in the 1/4, the timeslip says 9.73 sec @72.98 for the 1/8. This was on a K&N, 3"dp into dual 2.5" and a boost valve.

You might want to look through the Drag Time Slip forum. There are some 1/8 times in there

In general, you should probably be seeing mid to high 10 sec+ 1/8 mile ET's without any mods and low to mid 9 sec ET's with mods.

Yeah, there are only 1/8 mile tracks around here too which really sucks...since our TC's do much better in the second half of a 1/4 mile !

We have a whole section on Drag Slip Times...there are several times in there to check.

My best times so far (pump gas):

R/T .567
60' 2.276
1/8 ET 9.493
1/8 MPH 77.01
1/4 ET 14.597
1/4 MPH 95.46

That was a good point you brought up, guitrplyr. I guess I take the local 1/4 mile tracks for granted and forget that others may be stuck with only 1/8th mile ones. But anyways, here's the quickest of my most recent timeslips:

R/T : .553
60' : 2.198
330 : 6.184
1/8 : 9.492
mph : 74.41
1000: 12.278
1/4 : 14.778
mph : 93.38

Best 1/4 mile: 14.778 (with 2.198 60' time)
Best trap speed: 94.01mph

Steve:

Are you running an IHI still ? The reason I ask is that our 1/8 Mile ET's are practically identical, but I gained almost 2/10th's on your 1/4 ET...just wondering if it's due to a T3 vs IHI ?

Of course, there is one thing I have found out aboout ET's and Trap Speeds...there are like 400,000 variables from track temp and condition, shifting, to you name it that change the outcome of things. I have had slower ET's and faster trap speeds and visa versa...

Yep, I've still got the ihi on there (for now at least....a .48 t3 and a few other things are going on in 2 weeks). The car feels really strong for the few 1/8th mile, but once it's strung out in 3rd gear, the ihi just feels like it can't flow enough air to keep up the power.

Of course, your trap speed at the 1/8th mile was almost 3mph faster, but by the 1/4 mile it was "only" 2mph faster. As you said, there are a myriad of factors that contribute to the actual e.t. of the car, so i'm sure they explain away most of the differences. How much boost were you running?
