Distributor Shaft End Play ??

Anyone have a good distributor laying around that they could check shaft end play. I just need a ball park idea and I don't want to pull one out of a car. I just put a new gear on one and I'm getting about 3/16ths inch

Pete just checked new dist it's 40 thousands

Thanks Bill, I checked mine a little close and end play is about 0.097, there is no perceptible side play. The manual doesn't give a spec range.
