I was thinking about cleaning up my engine a little. Can I polish, have parts dipped in chrome, or paint parts of my engine myself?? Might be a dumb question..but I am looking to make my engine bay stand out a little. I have seen people with third gen Trans am's polish the Plenum on the TPI engines...so I was wondering if I can polish anything on my engine. I am new at this car stuff since I am 18..so please dont flame me too much.

Polish: Yes, if you have the proper tools, and LOTS of patience... Ask Dan E about this!

Chrome: Not really a DIY thing. Custom chrome plating costs BIG $$

Paint: yes, obviously.... just be sure to use high temp engine paint. Rattle cans can do a pretty good job.
