Ok , a really really weird one.

On my wifes car it sometimes will not start.Well I replaced the starter just recently because the bendex cover was rusted and it would not engage sometimes unless you hit it. OK, no biggy. Now that it is replaced it acts as if it is a bad starter relay, by just doing the "click" thing. Well here is where it gets weird. I double checked the connection at the starter and its tight.

If I touch the cable going to the starter where it wraps around the front of the block , it starts right up. The cable it tight at the starter and the solinoid. I am thinking mabey the cable itself it broken inside the rubber jacket or something. Has anyone had anything like this happen?

  TPS Adjustment

Well, I've got my voltmeter and my stubby little screwdriver, but i'm unsure of exactly where to hook up the positive and negative wires of the voltmeter to check the TPS voltage. I've already read the article in the Tech section, but the article seems a little unclear about which wire to hook up the positive wire to. And do I leave the TPS connection hooked up during the test or must I disconnect it first? Thanks ahead of time for any feedback.

Needless to say with all the Import shops popping up around the Dallas Metroplex, there has been an explosion in imports racing around here in the last year.
PLEASE!!!!
If my aftermarket motor and light weight front drive with a 1.6L turbo only ran between a 10.9 and 12.6, I would smash it into a brick wall at 120.

  EEC STI Connector Location

I'm trying to find the STI Connector on my '88 TBird TC (w/auto) and it doesn't seem there's any other single-wire connector near the VIP connector. Anyone have a good close-in photo of that area of the engine compartment I could take a look at for comparison?

cam change (not what you think) :)

I was thinking about doing the cam in my 95 Ranger.I'm pretty sure it's time to do a belt anyways. It is not a roller from what I have been told.I was thinking of putting my old TC cam in.
1.Should I put a roller in it?
2.When I get the cam and timing belt in, what do I do about timing? (no dist)
3.How do I tell if it needs a cam change or not?
This thing sucks for power man!
I've been driving my bird for too long.

  Leaking wastegate?
Posted by: Noname - 08-03-2001, 05:58 AM - Replies (11)

Hmm....I posted before about this.

Something is wrong with my 88 TC. When I floor it in any gear, mainly 1st/2nd, after about 7 psi and 4000 RPM, the whole car seems to just all the sudden loose power and throw itself forward, almost as if you were to jump on the brake and let off. After a couple times doing this, trying to listen to what is happening and stuff, I'm gonna take a guess and say that I think its a problem with the turbo wastegate. I guess when the boost gets too high or something, the wastegate is letting out all the pressure before I let off the gas, and this is where I loose the power. Anyone think I'm right? Or could it be something else?
