Ok,now that I've determined we need a new fan motor, how the heck do you get off the old fan blade?Pulled the clip off and been soakin it with rust buster but it won't budge. I've been holding the blade and tapping the shaft with a hammer.Any better ideas? Btw, probed the fan wires with a VOM and we've got power at start-up and when the A/C kicks in-that's a relief! Also tuned it up today-runs strong with 15 lbs boost through 2nd gear (ran out of road for 3rd)so we're almost ready to get it licensed.

I had the same problem. In your case I'm not sure But Bad News if its anything like mine was.I basically beat the hell out of old fan motor till there was just a casing left and what I saw was that it was connected by a rivet or something that was not meant to come off.Made no sense to me why they even had a clip on it to hold the fan on.I had a guy that worked at a place with all kinds of machines try to cut it off, gring it off and pry it off on big vices and after about 2 hours he got it off somehow.I can't find a replacement 4-blade nowhere.Ford told me they were discontinued. But I basically got it rigged on to a new motor anyway.Good Luck with that and hopefully one of the pros on here can help you or tell you where to find one of those fan blades.

This is my first post here, so be gentle all...

I happened to replace my primary fan motor today (11/17). The original failed (as in, came very close to catching fire) last summer, and I've only now been able to get our local Ford parts people to get the replacement unit in (long story). Anyway, 4 bolts to pull the shroud, 3 torx bolts removed to get to the motor off. Yes, you really need to get that odd 4 blade fan off to easily access the torx bolts. My "clip" took some coaxing (much easier to put on than get off) but then just carefully and firmly pulled the fan off the shaft. It was fairly tight on there, but not so much so that I thought about grabbing a wheel puller. Funny, the replacement part was SLIGHTLY looser, and had the electrical connection at 90 degrees to the motor's axis (the original pointed straight out the back towards the engine). <shrug>

Anyway, that's a lot to say, be patient with it, but if REALLY stuck on there, you may want to carefully work with a wheel puller and perhaps some penetrating oil.

Yes, your Camaro just got spanked by a 4cyl!
Finally got it but what a PITA.Soaked it all night with nut buster and still wouldn't budge. Knocked off the motor housing so only the end plate was left. Hacksawed through the armature shaft at the end plate.Used a socket as the receiver and punched the shaft through with a drift pin punch.I did manage to crack the blade a little at the hub but I'm sure it's reusable.Gotta love NY corrosion-guys in the south just don't get it.

Good to see you got it off.I think PITA is lightly putting it!I was using more harsh terms when I was trying to get it off like-*%$**& and @%$*&%.Hehe!
