Hey guys - I know that you can sympathize with this one....

My favorite JY near my house got in a black 88 TC about two weeks ago - looks just like my car. I have been wanting to get the motor/5-speed out of this car, along with the 3:55 and the three good wheels. Just couldn't come up with the time.

I found out that the TNRCC (State environmental reg. agency) had ordered the yard to shut down, and on Monday they had a going out of business sale.

The sale was "everything you can pile into a wheelbarrow" for $25.00. I missed getting an engine/tranny combo for $25 BUCKS! Not to mention that I would've gotten all of the wiring, sensors, ABS, PRC, switches, plastic parts, etc. in the damn wheelbarrow, too! Not only that, there was a 1992 Mustang just down the row that I NOW know has the RR camshaft in it. It also had a T-5!

Here's the kicker - the cars are still in the yard, these parts are still on them, and they are going to crush them & won't let me buy anything off of them!

Tragedy on a Shakespearian scale!

Mike

P.S. - the fine for operating out of compliance was $10,000 per car, per day. It was easier just to shut the doors :~<
That blows!

Please don't post any pics, that would just make it worse [Image: eek.gif]

...is anyone still working at the yard?

go back at night with that wheelbarrow =)
How tall is the fence? Any guards or dogs? I'll help if it's close enough.

Were they actually doing anything legitimately wrong, or is it yet another instance of another one of those wacko, out of contol environmental agencies getting out of hand? It seems to me that having a source of cheap parts allows people to keep their cars running better (therefore polluting less), plus it's a form of recycling and I thought that was a good thing!

That aside, I think it would be pretty darn funny to see someone trying to push wheelbarrow filled with a drivetrain around a junkyard. [Image: smile.gif]
Not as funny as what it would look like after the forklift stuck it in the back of my TC!

The problem was that surface runoff from the yard had trace contaminations of antifreeze and oil (probably no worse than a busy street) but they knew where the source was, so....
personally, I'd go over there at night with a set of wire cutters and the proper tools to get all the TC parts out
