i need a little help here.i have a newly painted '85 tc and a scoop set-up from an '88 and need the dimensions on where to cut the holes to mount the scoops.i havent seen one around here and i wonder if some kind soul could give me a hand. thanks lou
Should have just installed the whole 88 hood before you painted the car, much easier. [Image: smile.gif]
I agree. The hood is a bolt on and it would probably be cheaper to acquire a hood.

If you want to go the other route, I could probably make some measurements. Drop me an email

It won't work. You can't just cut a hole and drop in the scoops. The hood has a reccessed flange for the scoops to sit in. There is no way you are going to duplicate that feature. If you don't mind having the scoops stick up above the hood surface, then, just cut a slightly under sized hole for them by tracing their outline on the hood with wax pencil. I would just get a hood with the scoops in it already and paint it to match.
I have an 88 hood with scoops and ducts in the parts for sale forum. Check it out.

without disapointment, you cant appreciate victory, but victory would be nice every now and again.
I installed the 88 hood on my 85. Much easier then what your doing. The hood from my 85 fits a lot better then the 88. I check the size of 2 88's and found that it is slightly smaller in width. I don't think these cars are known for great body panel fit.

I have a good hood here in Woodstock, GA. About 15 minutes from Atlanta, not too far from SC. It needs paint, it has primer spots and one of the scoops has a hairline crack, not noticeable and I can repair it for you if you want to come pick everything up. PM me, we'll talk.
