Hi I have some questions regarding to the felpro 1035 gasket. First Is it true that if the block or head are a little warped that gasket will fail right away? Also is that a good gasket for insurance if I have some detonation will it blow before i blow a piston thanks.
I can't say from perosnal experience (I make sure the head is flat) but othere say the 1035 need flat parts for long life. Your asking for trouble if your running warped parts. The 1035 is expensive. the Felpro 8993 is much less expensive and is more than adequate for most applications.
i cant speak from experiance with using the 1035 either, but ive read that it is much strong then the 8993. so when you have motor tourbles the insurance the 8993 wil give you is better then the 1035. guys here run both and feel good about it. but with a more stock motor my preference would be the 8993
I've run the 1035 on all my engines, never lost a single one, and sure havent holed any pistons either, BTW, I've never had the block out of my car, so its as flat as any 100K mile short block is??

Others have gone as far, and further than my combo with the 8993, and also have not lost a gasket.

The re-occuring theme here, is to build and tune it not to need to rely on a gasket as a "fuse".

I use the 1035, and the only time I blew one was because of my own error (haste). I forgot to hook up the wastegate actuator hose and consequently the boost went through the roof, and with it, the gasket, and the water pump. It didn't ruin the copper ring, but it weakened the gasket right where the coolant hole was near piston 2 and it started to weep out the intake side.
