Heres the deal...

I finaly found my mystery coolant leak, the lower radiator hose was a little loose.... but heres the problem. I'm not sure if i was hallucinationg, but i THOUGHT I saw a wisp of fog come out my vents...NOOOOOOO!!! Of course, I was smoking a cig, and teh GF had just opened a bottle of soda....it was cold and the car was hot....mabey i'm just having heater core nightmare!! but heres where it gets interesting.... I catch just the smallest hint of coolant smell right when i turm on the heater or vents. Its one of those smells that goes away so quickly that you question if you even smelled it......and coupled with the POSSIBLE fog from the vents, makes me question my sanity. Also, i watched intently, and i didnt catch ANY fog coming out of the vents tonite, the only instance was the one I mentoned....Help!!!!!!

Yep dude, your nightmare has begun!
If you start to see any fogging on the windshield above the region where the core lies, you are most definitely in for it. Sometimes the fogging occurs after the car is shut off and sits.

It's not uncommon for a little "fog" to come out of the A/C vents when the A/C is on and it's really humid outside. It's just water vapor, not coolant leaking from your heater core. If it was that bad a leak, you'd have smelled it really strong!

well, thats good.... turns out i may have an explination,

I was told by a very reputable mechanic and friend ( we refer to him as the "Car god") that a coolent leak on the lines by the heater core could be the source of the wisps of fog. I didnt think anything of it, no coolant under the car...so i drove to work that night... and guess what? HISSSS HSSSS one of thise lines(inlet side rubber hose) was leaking a fair ammount of coolant onto the exaust manifold. So, i fixed that,... no more wisps from the vents, and no discernable coolant reek....I guess i fixed the problem.... who wudda thunk it.
