Well guys,

Thinking about adding another Turboford to the garage. I found 88TC auto, tan, tan leather, pretty loaded, 87k, ac does not work, pretty good shape, 2nd owner no rust. $2000 I would assume obo.

I was thinking about buying it for a summer DD. My 89XR7 is starting to rust pretty bad, although the ac works, has 148k. But the fuel economy is bad, about 20mpg. I have replaced everything for a tuneup. It drives good.

I was thinking basic mods, 3" exhaust, tuneup, 15-17psi. Will this be OK for the a4ld? What kind of fuel economy would this get? I do have my 88tc 5speed swap i pulled from the cougar last year, probally need a new clutch though. What do you guys think.

Thanks

Travis
Travis,
I DD'd an 88TC auto for 5 years. Their great! I rebuilt the A4LD right away with a new Torque Convertor, Shift Kit, and added a HUGE aftermarket tranny cooler up front. I installed a Gillis at 15#, put on a set of 2.5" mandrel SS dual exhaust, and left it at that. I was more then happy with the performance and the MPG was about 20/26. With the Tan car being such low miles, I'd do a filter/flush and add the tranny cooler and not bother with a rebuild. It's a STEAL at $2000 too!
Only 87K? Mike's right. You stole it.
Have not stole it yet, just got the VIN to run it through carfax, plus it is not quite next door.

Travis
hey, can you run a vin for me travis?
My carfax account just expired two days ago...sorry. Im trying to find somebody that has a current account.

Travis

P.S. if I find one I will let you know.
cool, thanks.
