I had added an Alpine CDE-9843 head unit back in 2005 using the stock AMP and EQ.  I swapped all the speakers at that time and was satisfied with the result.  Several years ago, the left channel would fade in/out and I just really didn't bother with it or actually drive the car much.

Finally got some time to address some tbird issues (did the IVR earlier this week) and next up was the stereo.  I spoke with crutchfield (where i purchased everything back in 2005), the PAC OEM2 device which was used to connect the Alpine to the factory amp and EQ was no longer available (wanted to swap it out and see if that fixed the problem) and after speaking with their tech he recommended the Scosche FGA.

Hooked it up today and it works perfectly and as a bonus also has less wiring the PAC OEM2.  I had also previously needed to run a noise suppressor and choke (removed now) to deal with the alternator whine although that may not have been needed after the 3g upgrade. With the Scosche being a FGA, there is only one speaker ground wire and no power wires (red - switched power, blue - remote amp signal, orange - illumination and yellow - constant power) removed from the bundle and only needed at the connector adapter.  It also is under $10!

Scosche FGA
that's good to know, thanks for the info
