New problem on my 87 TC. Engine will not idle more than 3 seconds. Replaced the fuel pressure regulator as fuel was coming out of vacuum port. Replaced the injectors as they were original. Cleaned carbon off the EGR block and carbon that was inside the upper plenum and around the butterfly valve in the upper plenum. Used mass sensor cleaner in the TPS port to clean carbon from there. Fuel pressure on the rail gauge is 35.
Any ideas what to check next to get to idle?
You can check the TPS voltage, it should be .95v at idle. does it idle if you hold the throttle a bit?

It tries to but only for 3 sec.
Sounds like a fairly large vacuum leak to me. Lots of places for vac leaks on these engines.... dry rotted / cracked / disconnected vacuum hoses, leaking intake gaskets, etc.

I will check for those, didn't notice any when under hood. Did replace the Idle air valve and gasket as the gasket was questionable. Did not make any difference.
I will also hook up a fuel pressure gauge to fuel rail in place of the gauge that is there in case it is reading bad.
the PIP in the distributor will also go bad on these cars, it will erratically kill the ignition and stutter, maybe yours is bad enough to kill it? Did you check the voltage at the TPS? Checking fuel pressure while idling and when giving it some gas is a good check also. Let us know what you get.

Have you had the pipe from the VAM off lately.  Sometimes if you don't get it back on correctly car starts and dies.  I've had it were when I put it back on it didn't get completely on and it creates an air leak.
