Greetings all. It's great to have found this forum specifically dedicated to Turbo Coupe owners. I just purchased an '88 TC with only 3,547 original miles! Of course, it's in what appears to be new condition. I found it in Illinois but it was originally purchased in North Carolina and probably stored for most of its life in dry and heated quarters. The car was transported last week in an enclosed car carrier to Kent, WA, where it is now sitting in a warehouse waiting for shipment tomorrow on a vessel (enclosed) through the Gulf of Alaska to the Port of Anchorage. Long trip which will take about two weeks. That's ok. It gives me time to prepare its new room in my heated garage.

I bought a new '87 Turbo Coupe (black) and it was my most favorite car of all time. But when I moved to Alaska in 1989, I knew the TC was not the car that would carry me through the winters up here, so I very reluctantly traded it in for a more appropriate vehicle. But I swore at the time that if I ever had the means and the opportunity to own another one, I would. Well, that opportunity came when I saw an ad in Hemmings Motor News last month. It was a small ad surrounded by a bunch of other classic cars, but this Bright Red beauty stood out immediately. After some haggling (on my part, not theirs), I decided I wanted it. No buyers remorse! So now I'm just waiting.

I really want to hear the back story on this car and have been researching the paperwork that was shown on the web site. The dealer didn't seem to know much or didn't want to provide much about its history. I think I may have found the original buyer so I'll be trying to contact him soon.

For now, I've already ordered new Goodyear Eagle tires since it still has the original 33-year old tires mounted. The Eagle RS-A 225/60/R16 (V-rated) blackwall police tires are the closest match to the originals the dealer could find. Of course, there are none here in Alaska so they are on their way now from the lower 48.

Lots of other things to think about such as oil and filters, battery, etc. There was a video posted by the seller taking the car for a test drive, so I know it runs well. Can't wait to do that first test drive myself and  bring back some old memories. I'll keep you posted on this forum.

Valley, welcome to the forum and great story on your new Bird. It never fails to amaze me how many people have owned these cars over the years and it is still one of our favorite cars, myself included! You may have the honor of being the furthest north Turbo Coupe, congratulations! I had the pleasure of being sent up to Eielsen AFB years ago for the Air Force and I loved it up there. Beautiful state.
Wow what a find! They seem to be coming out of the woodworks lately, there's been a couple very low km, high asking price vehicles on Kijiji here all of a sudden. I guess people are selling what's laying around as prices for anything seem to be up.
That's incredible though, hard to imagine the previous owner really was able to enjoy it much.
Congrats and welcome!

Thanks Kuch. Hoping to enjoy it a while (in only the best weather) before I make any mods to it. Yes, it is a beautiful state and I'm sure, if there are many others up here, they have many more miles.

Congrats and welcome!

Just received the title today and, so far, looks like there are at least two previous owners. I'll keep you posted. Thanks.
Got the car this week and it's every bit as clean and new as it looked in the hundreds of pics I've seen. Waiting for new tires and going to store the old (new) tires to keep it as original as possible. It will be driven soon!
