Man i got a deal, just picked up an complete volvo 16v head and intake and fuel rail, 35$. Of course i had to take it off myself, but it only took about an hour or so. So here begins another 16v head swap in the making. I'll keep you guys updated on my progress.
I've watched this thread now for a few days and mabey the reason the aren't any responses is that you have started a project that will grow and grow. Do a search on this site and Turboford, this project has been tried before with mixed results. The conclusions are mixed with the opinion you can get more bang for you buck in other ways. But if you have your heart set on it, good luck, hope it works out for you.
i thought about it, and actually followed and read up on a build up that a guy on TF was doing with the VOLVO DOHC head. He successfully got it working, but said for the amount of work it takes you'd be better off just buying a essy alum. head or hog out your stock iron. BUT, its unchartered territory so there isn't a whole lot of info pertaining to it yet. its an interference head too, so be careful of a broken timing belt. some heads have the "timing belt replaced" sticker on them but alot of junkyard heads have bent valves cause of broken timing belts. take it FWIW.
NOt trying to talk you out of it, but if you dont have mad $$$$ or crazy welding and machining skills like I dont have, To me it wasnt worth the thought. Now If I had the resources like some of the guys on TF I would actually give it a shot. If you press on Good LUCK! keep us posted.
