Where did you get that instruction from? i assume you mean thermactor? TurboCoupes do not have this device, also known as a smog/air pump.

The instructions came with the code reader.

That is why it is a good idea to get the Ford shop manuals for you car if you can find them, especially the "Engine/Emissions Daignosis Manual" - the "H" manual. Several codes are specific to the 2.3T and/or have different meanings for the 2.3T than for other Ford motors.
