I could use some input on my clutch health,

I was abusing it today by smoking my 12 year old tires that need to be replaced.. may as well have some fun with them first. At one point I was disengaging the clutch after some tire smoke and there was a mechanical pop and a slight thunk-thunk-thunk that went away. Soon thereafter I noticed clutch slipping around 4k revs getting no power to the wheels. Drive home fine with no further issues or sounds. The pop could have been a backfire, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't since I've never had one before on the tc.

Clutch is a 10 year old Napa with maybe 20k and some light abuse.
Just guessing here and assuming it is still slipping at some rpms: Broke spring finger(s) off the pressure plate or popped spring out of clutch plate. Glazed the clutch, or pressure plate or flywheel.
Thanks for the input. Time to go clutch shopping I guess.
Yup, only way to tell what is wrong is take it apart and have a look.
I'm kind of looking forward to it. I've had symptoms before that people suggested the throwout bearing was the issue, new clutch kit would address that. And I could do u-joints at the same time. Sounds like a good spring project.

I'm leaning towards a Spec Stage 2 or 2+, any suggestions?
