So I visited most of the sites around that discuss the 5 lug conversion for my 88 Turbo Coupe, but now I have more questions than answers. It seems that the best option with least modification is going to be using 94-98 GT axles and front rotors from a MKVII or an SVO. Is this true? I am looking to use Bullit style wheels in 17" on the car, any issues running these with the above mentioned setup? With the longer MKVII axles, do they affect the mounting of the calipers to maintain alignment? Use of spacers? For the front rotors, do I use my existing TC calipers? Thanks for any clarification on this guys
if you use mark VII rotors up front there is no change in any thing other then its 5lug, the TC and MarkVII use nearly identical calipers. the MarkVII ones are only a few Millimeters bigger. so just changing the rotors will be easy.
now for the rear:
i am using SN95 (94-98mustang) axles and complete calipers / rotors. to do this you need spacers between the axle bracket and the caliper bridge. very easy swap and the parking brake cables attach the same way. only down side is the SN95 rotors are solid, unlike the TC's are vented rotors. but i have not had any issues.

for my front swap, i used sn95 control arms, spindles hubs and rotors and calipers ( i used new edge (99-04 mustang) twin piston calipers)
i wanted all 94-04 mustang brakes so i would have endless options and parts readily available for reasonable prices in the future.
Your 5lug Conversion project is on my list of things to do on my 87 Bird so when you solve all the headaches, please let me know what your end result was!

Good luck!

curious if there any downsides to the conversion like "losing ABS"?

Do you have a pic of the spacer between axle bracket and caliper?
If you want to run Bullitt wheels with the Mark VII rotors you will have to grind the end of the hub on the rotor to get you wheesl to seat all the way against the rotor. You will not be able to run the center cap that goes with the wheel because the nut that holds the rotor on will protrude past the wheel. I did this initially, but changed to SN95 spindles and I am much happier with that set up. The SN95 lower control arms are the same as the Turbo Coupe and can be used.

On my rear I used the Mark VII LSC axles and brakes. I had to use 86 T-bird E brake cables to connect the E brakes. I also had to put a proportioning valve in the line to keep the rears from locking up. I used 85 Mark VII parts. They are the same as SVO. The later Mark VII used smaller rear rotors and calipers. The Lincoln axles are 3/4" longer and I like the way it made the wheels fit the wheel wells.
