I promise I know when and how to come out of the rain, but I'm putting my dipstick back in and I can't find the hole where the dipstick bracket bolts in.
Anybody have a good picture or an idea to help me navigate to the hole?
That bolt is a real PITA to remove and install. Use a small mirror and a flashlight to get a look at the hole in the lower intake.

I think you are being way too hard on yourself. This isn't supposed to be an easy job, else shops wouldn't charge an arm and a leg to do it.
And you've certainly had a lion's share of challenges, which has made it more difficult. But it wasn't over when
the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor ...and it's not time to quit now.
