Long time no post natoers

I bumped the pressure up to 18psi with the stocker hair dryer turbo. I get a little ping in 2nd over 4500 rpms. In higher gears, there is no ping but there is noticeable random cuts in power. I'm currently set at 10o BTDC per my light. Too much boost on stock tune, needing more fuel? Going to regap the plugs tomorrow if I have time. The random cuts in power make me think it's one cylinder not firing right..

18psi is awesome over the 15 I was running Smile

Also, where can a guy get a thermostat that FITS and opens at stock temperature? The oreiley 7.99 and 12.99 doesn't fit and opens too early. Cruising never gets above the 'M'.

Long live NATO

Also, Also, should I use bolts and the normal amount of studs or go with all studs/nuts on the exhaust manifold?
I have had reasonable luck (not good luck, just reasonable luck) with the NAPA tstats. The trick is to get the tstat to seal into the tstat housing so it doesnt bypass coolant to the rad. Last time, I ended up using RTV to "glue" the tstat rubber gasket into the tstat housing. Been pretty good for 2 or 3 years, but I still have to block off half the radiator (aftermarket Aluminum unit with 2 1" cores) to get the engine to come up to operating temp if ambient temp is under 45 deg.

Read your plugs when you pull them. Maybe a partly clogged injector causing a lean condition in 1 cyl? You can tray an AFPR to up fuel pressure a few psi to very crudely "tune" it to handle the increased boost. Or put on water/meth injection.
f n f,i had a problem with my 7.3 turbo diesel with thermostats from advance auto. the only solution to my problem was the factory t`stat from the dealer. it cost $35.00 but when you see how it fits the housing you understand why the aftermarket ones don`t work well. it was almost 5 times the cost but problem solved, best of luck on your fix.....terry
I have everything ready for my PIMP except an o2 bung hole Sad

Might just break down and get a stinger dp and weld me a little exhaust that dumps by the passenger tire. Going to check plugs now..
Ok so in the process of getting to the spark plug, the first step thankfully, I found the intercooler was loose on the turbo connection. I clamped it down but ended up just replacing the clamp since it was shot. It's time to replace that stock rubber coupler for sure! I have a coupler for the TB and IC that has the by-pass valve tee. Another on the list of to dos haha.

Pings gone and it feels like it's getting full power. A few times in the top end the power felt like an ocean tide, smoothly in out in out. But I am under a 1/4 tank.. Over all butt dyno approved!
Fred, I'd also recommend an aftermarket temp gauge along with the
recommendations form the others. The factory gauges are not known for accuracy.
