IM WONDERING IF ANYONE CAN TELL ME THE FORD PART NUMBER OF THE IGNITION SWITCH THAT HAD ALL THE ISSUES ?
AND IF IT WAS UPDATED TO A PART # THAT WAS REDESIGNED??
MINE IS CURRENTLY FINE BUT I DONT REALLY WANT TO WORRY ABOUT IT NOT BEING FINE .
I don't know the part number, but every early 80's Ford and probably earlier up thru the mid 90's used the same switch. Every parts store on the planet has them in stock. I don't think they were ever redesigned.
E6FZ-11572-A IS OLD PART #. F29Z-11572-D IS THE RECALL REPLACEMENT...

This switch is supposed have wider spacing between the contacts to prevent flash over and used in recall replacement(the only one I'd consider for my vehicles)... Pt # is printed on switch...

What happens is with wear the spaces between the contacts fills grease and metallic particles, eventually resistance between contacts is low enough current is drawn resulting in unattended fires...

AFAIK being it was a fire issue, the recall is still in effect... I suppose those expire at some point but no idea when...

My curiosity got me... Note sentence as end of first page, basically says recall never expires...

-safety recall. never ends until the switch is replaced and shows as filled(done) with Ford on a particular vehicle.....
you can enter the vin on ford .com and check to see if it has the recall on it.
THANKS EVERYONE
TURBOBOOST88 THE WEBSITE SAYS NO OPEN RECALLS I STILL PLAN ON CHECKING TO MAKE SURE THANKS VERRY MUCH FOR THE PART NUMBER INFO
Generally, any Ford dealer should be able to check if the recall was done using your VIN.
