The mail guy just dropped off the new shift knob. It's going to take a little time, but I'll make a piece of automotive art with it. I hope. Maybe......

Built! Not bought, I love it!
I would need two or three of those... I;m not patient enough to do it right the first time.

Keep us in the loop during it's creation, Vinnie. And have fun!
I will keep progress pics of it as the work is being done. I'm waiting on my 200 sanding drums for my Dremmel. Yes, 200. LOL. I'm officially calling this "Project Pistol Grip".
It will be totally hand carved and sanded, but I want it to look like I bought it like that. Hopefully I can pull it off. never carved aluminum before.
The full scale clay mock up. Fits my hand perfectly. I designed the pad on the top as it is because I have a habit of using the palm of my hand to shift into 1st, 3rd and 5th gear. can't wait to get started on the billet piece. The base is larger on the clay piece than it will be on the billet piece. The clay needed a base to stand up.

With the billet piece, it'll be shaped and smoothed with sanding drubs, then hand sanded for a really smooth finish, then buffed to a satin finish.
Great project Vinnie. Keep us updated. I know of a guy that completely ported a 2.3 head and E6 with a couple Dremels.
I sure will. I have to go back to work tomorrow. My sanding drums should be here any day now, and my ext day off is Friday. So, waiting for my day off, then, the real work begins. LOTS of metal to eliminate, and then when the rough, basic shape is achieved, tiny amounts at a time until it's just right. Then smoothing and finishing. I do have to ask myself "why?". I guess so I can say I did it.
