So weird thing just happened. Driving my car it was fine all day. Park for a bit and take it out and all off a sudden this thing sounds like it has a holset with a blow off valve lol. I'm on a stock IHI running like 18 psi normally with no problem. It runs find outside of boost just sounds wrong and doesn't pull like it used to. I looked at the rubber boots and they look okay. My k and n on the vam is secure. Where should I start looking? Ill hopefully be working in a heated garage tomorrow its 11 degrees outside and its not very motivating to work on my car at this second.
Take the VAM hose off and see if the turbo has a lot of play in the shaft.
maybe a crack in the exhaust somewhere near the turbo/downpipe?
So get this..I braved the cold and took off my top mount to check out the rubber boots real quick. I attempted to try to grab the impeller shaft and from what I could tell it was bad but I need to take off the inlet to really feel it out.
Anyways I slap it back together and take it for a what the hell ride and see if its still doing it and whalah its fine..im wondering if its maybe a hung up waste gate arm or my bootleg manual boost controller.
Oh yeah I also got pulled over 20 ft from my house for speeding because I wanted to see if it would do it (which it didnt) lol. Luckily I know the right people and was let off.
