Full Version: Clutch or Tranny problem?

Ever since I picked up my bird, at idle my car has no vibration. However, at idle when I stomp the gas the car vibrates. I even got new motor mounts which eliminated alot of vibration. Today I was blowing away a 5.0,downshifted around a curve and my car would not go into gear, needless to say at that point the 5.0 waived bye bye. No! He didn't beat me! I beat myself. I pulled over and all of a sudden it started to go into gear again. Anyway, my brother said it was the clutch vibration all along letting me know it was about to go. Is this the case or should I be looking for another trans too?
Just a guess, but you might want to check the transmission crossmember mount. It might be allowing some flex in a turn. Also sometimes in the heat of battle, I don't push the clutch in far enough and the tranny hangs up.
Also check the fluid level in the clutch resevoir and for leaks at the slave and master cylinders. Or it may just be time for a clutch job.

As usual, Pete's right. My car's tubing where the bushing slides into it completely rusted out leaving NO bushing. I'm going to a hardware store, getting a pipe slightly smaller in diameter, but one that will make us have to squeeze it in with a vice and then we'll match up bushings and fix it. Once in awhile when I'm shifting hard it won't go into gear unless I drop RPMS. It also does it in reverse sometimes. I'll fix it Thursday and post the results here for future reference
