Debris can get into the heater/AC blower motor housing, jamming the squirrel cage fan. Creatures have been known to move in and build nests. Or twigs and leave can get in there. I've seen both.

I got a few pics of when I did one. This was a 1988.

You may want to pull the passenger seat. Not saying it's absolutely necessary. Since the heater core and the evaporator are not in the part of the case you will take out, you don't need to disconnect the heater hoses or A/C lines at the firewall or mess with the heater core.

Here is a diagram. What you are removing is the blower motor/fan portion of the box on the right end. Your system may not be laid out exactly as this one is. You have to unfasten the box from the rest of the case as well as dismount it from the car. It's not hard to do.

It's behind the dash on the passenger side. You will need to remove the glove box lid and the glove box itself. Press the ends of the box in and pull back towards you, take out some screws on the bottom to remove the lid. It's been a long time since I did this so I'm sure something will get left out.

This is what you will see looking through the glove box opening.

I forget how many fasteners hold the box in. There is one behind the carpet near the curve of the trans tunnel. The one in this pic requires you look "up"

The recirculation door is on the bottom and the bronze metal thing is the vacuum motor to control that door. The blower motor and fan are on the left side behind the vacuum motor.

Here is the motor and fan:

The motor is on the left side in this pic.
Clean out any accumulated debris. If it has any animal droppings you might want to wipe it out with a mixtures of Clorox and water, as best you can.
