Search results lead me to this dilemma...

I keep finding these two parts numbers... FMS-M-3075-A and FMS-M-3075-D.

I see one post where FMS-M-3075-D is for the tbird tc and another post where it states FMS-M-3075-D is for SN95s, the "A" is for fox mustangs/tbirds. Wouldn't the sn95 version have the shorter ball joint stud?

Summit has both listed for $307 (A) and $170 (D) for the pair. The D's have an upgraded balljoint from what I can determine.

Which part is correct (or will both work) for a stock 87 TC?
The -A will fit the pre-'87 TCs. The -D is the longer one suitable for the '87/'88 but your question about the ball joint is relevant and I can't answer that. Where did you see that price on the -A??? I just checked and see ~$307

I edited the first post to correct the mistake!
That price must be for old stock on hand. The -A was once 170 also, I bought a pair as it was only marginally more than buying bushings and balljoints. You can see that the price went up. If you determine the ball joint is okay, then you should get them now. I'll bet the price goes up when Summit reorders. The current Ford price is much more than $170.

Thanks... I ordered a set of the FMS-M-3075-D $169.95 along with the energy suspension front spring isolators $32.99 (#4-6102). With $16.60 tax and $11.75 handling comes to $230.99. They appear to have free ground shipping, but the $11.75 handling makes it an almost moot point.

In searching other threads I found that these arms are sn95 and will have the shorter stud on the ball joint. The fox/tbird ball joint is the same size with a longer stud to work with the stock spindle. Ball joints from rockauto (MOOG #K8259) are $45/ea... I will try and sell the ball joints that come on the arms on ebay and get some of that back.

I was considering going with a coil-over setup, but it's too pricey, also the prc struts seem to still be working well (set on firm). I'll put in new springs (Moog #8606) and should be in good shape! I may look at different options for springs... I'll see what I can find in the various discussions.

Never tried doing front end work like this, may be an adventure!

let us know how this works out, i never heard about the studs on the FMS-M-3075-D ball joints being shorter, but if replacement balljoints are a direct fit then i guess it's not so bad.

Here is a shot of the sn95 ball joint next to a Moog problem solver tbird ball joint (K8259) specified for the 87-88 turbo coupe. I arranged the two so that the area the control arm rests on are lined up. The taper is longer in the tbird ball joint to accept the thicker spindle. That is why there is a spacer used (I think it is 5/8") when using sn95 spindles on the tbird ball joint.
