This may be a FNG question but has anyone investigated the possibility of grafting an airdam from a 79 Cobra/Pace Car, 82 GT, to a TC? And before anyone blasts the newbie, I did search and found nothing.
Anyway, I have a 82 GT roller and I'm going to take some measurements of the front bumper. I know that the 86 TC and 82 GT bumper sizes are different but I've seen 03 cobra bumpers fitted to some unlike vehicles.

If the measurements are close I may order a repro from 50Resto and try and work some fiberglass magic. Anyone have any advice on how I should proceed?

you can get a custom bumper for the 83-86 TC that looks just like that. it screws right to the lower cover, and really changes the look of the car. but they can be tough to find.

please dont take apart that GT they are far too rare and desirable, ESPECIALLY that front bumper/air dam
He's not taking apart the GT. He's ordering a repro.
I'm not one to part unique cars...why do you think I'm rebuilding a $200 TC. Trust me, many people asked for parts off of the 82 but they were sent packing!

Actually, to save the 82 GT, I sold it, as a complete car. I have a 89 GT, a 93 LX (2.3T), a 98 Contour SVT and the 86 TC....and of course a newborn daughter!

With my other priorities and projects I couldn't give the time and money the 82 GT needed so I sold it to someone who is going to do a full stock restore.
......but I'm still looking for a FMS or Xenon body kit or air dam.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers,
Mike
I had a 97 countour LX, V6 5sp sport package. Loved that car. Would actually love to have the shift knob on my TC, but alas, it went with the car, and I kept the crappy custom one that I bought used, used it for a month, and changed back to the original. Sad
