There was a tech article written about painting seats recently that got me to thinking about how much I despise the bright red interior in the latest black bird. I was wondering it would look like to paint the center section of the seats and door panels black to try and break up some of the red.

This was just a quick photoshop manipulation to get an idea of what it would look like.

Any opinions? Has anyone else tried this?

I will mock up a picture of the rear real quick.
Here is the rear, color doesn't match, but close enough to get an idea.

I'd have to say don't do it.
i agree that breaking up that red would look good if it works. good luck. post some pics if you decide to do it.
I like it,just add a set of halo headrests in black. reminds me of my 01 Lightning that had black/grey suede and leather.
What scares me about that stuff, is that once it's done, it's done. No going back if it doesn't work.

That's what has kept me from ever trying it before, but beings I really dislike the red, worse case scenario is I screw up an interior that I don't like.

I think it would actually look decent as long as the middle patch accepts the paint well.
I would not do it either, the problem is that the paint will eventually wear because of use and sunlight. Once its worn you can redo it all again I guess, but when it wasn't repainted it would look horrible since the red would show through the black.
Maybe paint the outsides of the seats, less wear and tear on those might last longer.

i had thought of that too but i think that getting in and out will wear down the high spots of the side bolsters.

either way i think the 2 tone would look good.
