On my 85, I'd like to just eliminate the body side moldings completely, and repaint the car all one color.Does anyone know if there is any year like mine that does not have the "bumps" (for lack of a better word)on the bumper covers that the body side moldings meet up with? I hope you guys know where I'm going with this....or maybe I'm just wishful thinking.
Joe
Hate to say it but..........They're on every bumper Sad
Russ Carlson removed his body side mouldings and then used some sort of filler to fair the bumper ends into the body side. Turned out quite nice looking. Hopefully he'll see this thread and chime in.
Hmmmm.......thats what I was afraid of,1BadBird.
I kinda thought so but thought I would ask.
Maybe Russ will chime in and have some pics....
Thanks guys.
Joe
That gives me an idea as to how to do that on my car. I'm leaving the bodyside molding off as well. Hmmmmmm
If you can find any of the original Pro Stock parts, they had no side molding on the bumpers. The front and rear were both the OE width and were made of fiberglass. The 1-piece nose is still available new, but is sectioned so it won't fit a "stock" TC.
Here's a couple pics I have of Russ's car.

I don't know what he used to taper the bumper moulding.
That looks awesome!!!!!!!
I bet he had someone re-work the bumper cover ends.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm........
Thanks,Robert!!!!!!!!
Joe
Nope, Russ did the work, and the paint.
I see. That kinda came out wrong,I meant to say it looks like that is what was done, not who did it!!!Great job, though. I'd like to do the same to my car.
Thanks for passing that along,Robert.
