Full Version: Squawk in right front corner.

Guys, I have a problem that is driving me nuts. I have this awful sound coming from my right front corner whenever I hit a bump or turn hard to the left. The sound is only there when the ride control is NOT in firm mode. If I have firm mode engaged the sound is not present.

I've had the wheels off, with the car up on a lift and I can find nothing wrong. The only thing I can think of is that something is messed up with that strut that makes is squawk when the dampening in reduced.

Any input?
Unfortunately there are lots of things that can make noise in the front ends. There are rubber cushions at the ends of the springs, I think. Also strut bushing, sway bar bushings, A arm bushings. Might also want to check tie rod end links (2 inner & 2 outer) and ball joints.

I've gone over the suspension carefully two times now. Once about two weeks ago prior to inspection, and now once again since it started making noise. I'm almost certain that it has something to do with the strut itself, but I am not sure how to verify it.
Well, now that we're on the subject of funny noises... When I make faster right hand turns, my drivers side front end kinda groans. I know it's time for a rebuild, so I'm going to rebuild and forget the damn thing. I think I'm going to get a PST front end kit. Why? If you go to a local parts place you're gonna spend close to $225 for all the parts or you can go to the website and pay $190 for everything and thats with poly graphite bushings not rubber.

My noises are weird. I get the groan in firm or auto suspension modes. But I get a chatter in soft mode too. To clarify there's only a chatter in soft, but there's a groan in both...

CHATTER: You nailed it on the head Blade. Mine chatters in soft, but I don't notice any noise in firm. Of course that could be becaue my teeth are chattering too loud from these rough-ass Pennsylvania back roads.

What's this PST kit?

It pretty much replaces everything on the front end with the exception of inner tie rod ends($40 for both) and spring isolators($30 at Summit). I've priced out everything at the parts store and they come out pretty close in price, but these are performance oriented parts.
