Just curious, are there any orginal owners (oo)
out there?

Do you remember that day; driving off the Ford new car lot with the radio cranked, moon-roof retracting, the new car smell, and that big grin?

I do.
*original* hmm, no edit post options? Good thing I got the title right, haha!
Yep. Ordered it end Nov 87 and picked it up early Jan 88. Getting a little long in the tooth, but still my daily driver about 60-70% of the time.
Hah! I did the exact same, waited for a few months. Did yours have the moonroof?
Yes....got every option available except for leather seats and auto trans.
Wow PetzJC I just noticed the mileage on the TC -that is amazing!

About the same in options here too, can't stand leather seats in any car.
The next best thing to being an original owner is the guy/gal that didnt pay full price and still loves the car, like most of us here do. I wish I did buy my Bird new, but I didn't have a license yet. I received my license in late 89 which is a year too late for new.

Well Qtf at least you have good taste, Thunderbirds weren't exactly cheap from the dealerships. I recall the price tag came in around 26K brand spanking new. It was the first car I bought that was new, and man was it a dream car. Sporty yet luxurious and sexy looking.

I haven't seen a signle new car look as badass as the 87 and 88 TCs. Sort of a sad thought for the American auto industry. Even the newer Tbirds don't hold a stick to the TCs or sixties/fifties Birds(IMHO).

I think 1988 was the last year they "really" made Thunderbirds, but that is just my opinion =)
$26,000? Wow that was a lot back then. My brother paid $14,xxx for his '88 Mustang GT new. Of course, the TC's were way ahead technologically and stylishly than most cars back then. My TC looks like junk compared to most other cars(including most of the TC on here) but I still love it! Is it bad that I's rather drive my rusted and paint faded TC than a nicer car. When I'm in my TC, I usually have a smug feeling like "I'm driving a better car than you" and people just look at me like I'm crazy. Lol. When a car makes me feel like that, that's when I know I truly like my car. Sorry, didn't mean to thread jack or ramble on. I didn't buy my TC new, but I still remember the first time I saw it and the first time I drove it( it wouldn't go over 45 mph!) But I knew I had to have it and I still do!
My original 1988 TC cost me around $15,500, but was a low optioned model.

Here it is a few weeks after I got it.
