Due to Family things (Step Daughter coming to live with us) have postponed puttinin the K&N Filter. So I take of every thing from the Turbo intake to the the air box. I notice oil in the hose between the turbo and VAM and insde the VAM is wet too. Past the the vam to the air box is dry. Normal?
Also, What is the canister below the Airbox that has a hose connected to the intake hose between the air box and VAM? I was going to connect the K&N directly to the VAM .
Is the hose from the canister necessary to feed in between the Filter and VAM?
The cannister below the stock airbox is a charcoal filter that sucks up fumes from the gas tank and feeds them into the engine. The hose from it to the airbox puts a light vacumm (derived from the intake) on the cannister which is what makes it work.

I've not heard of any problems caused by having it disconnected from the intake when a low restriction air filter is used, other than a smell of gas in the area (that may or may not have been caused by it).

However, to remain smog legal (I have to, being in California), you need to have it connected to pass visual inspection. I have my air filter in the fenderwell, so I had a bung welded onto the pipe that runs from the VAM to the filter.

Hope this helps.

Thanks but a bud told me what it was nad i did asearch and found that answer but what about the oil in the hose between the VAM and the turbo? If I had turned the hose so it would drip out it would have been about 2 tablespoons worth of oil
It could be the crankcase vent pumping oil into the turbo inlet and the oil accumulates after you shut it down. My 93 coupe/87 turbo coupe is doing the same thing.
I just changed the PCV 2 months ago but the car hasnt moved much at all since then .if what you are sayin is true the new PCV would have taken care of that and this oil in the hose is old?
only one way to find out, clean the oil out and see if it comes back.
It' a matter of degree on the oil in the vam hose. A little is normal, significant puddling is a problem. The first thing to do would be to check your PCV valve via the blow test. If it's bad, use ONLY the Ford part. Clean the hose out and monitor it. Is the car using any oil?
